On Saturday, May 22, at 12pm, WILL and the Silver City Museum will partner in hosting a “Lunch & Learn” presentation by artist, gallery owner, and leader of young muralists, Diana Ingalls Leyba. She will explain what is depicted in the gorgeous murals seen around Silver City. Just as the murals visually enhance the town, knowing the stories behind the murals will further enrich the experience.

To register and attend, go to www.silvercitymuseum.org, will.community/#/lunchlearn, or type https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_OQy3r4DoTIq7y_B_LbE2nw into your browser.

For 17 years, Grant County and the Town of Silver City have contracted with Ingalls Leyba and the Youth Mural Project to design and create murals on buildings, walls, and playgrounds all over town. They are breath-takingly beautiful, and they also all hold a great deal of significant information. This program will provide attendees a bit of the backstory for the murals, especially the storytelling aspect of murals and their role in the transfer of Grant County history and culture from one generation to another.

Diana Ingalls Leyba is the co-founder and director of the Youth Mural Program that began in 2003. She is a prolific artist, a gallery owner (Diana Ingalls Leyba Studio & Gallery), and former owner of Leyba & Ingalls Arts Supplies & Gallery.

The Silver City Museum creates opportunities for residents and visitors to explore, understand, and celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of southwestern New Mexico by collecting, preserving, researching, and interpreting the region's unique history. It is nationally recognized through its accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums.
