The Give Grandly Coalition, with the support of the Grant County Community Foundation, is ready to launch the ninth annual Give Grandly fundraiser for area nonprofits on Saturday, May 7. The 2022 Give Grandly event will be live and in-person at the Makers’ Market in downtown Silver City.

This 24-hour community day of giving is our chance to champion the many nonprofit organizations in Grant, Luna, Catron and Hidalgo counties that help to make southwest New Mexico a special place to live. Local nonprofits serve our communities in many ways, from providing food pantries and shelters to promoting arts and culture, education, literacy, youth engagement, historic preservation, animal welfare, environmental conservation and community development. All of these nonprofits depend heavily on volunteers, grants, and donations to be able to offer their services to us.

On Saturday, May 7, 2022, participating organizations will have booths to showcase their work to the local community. The Makers’ Market will host the event from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on its opening day in the newly renovated Main Street Plaza located off Bullard Street—that’s between 7th and 8th Streets—next to the Big Ditch Park in downtown Silver City.

During the event, Gila Mimbres Community Radio will broadcast interviews with the nonprofits on 89.1 KURU or online at gmcr.org. Visit the booths, find out more about our local nonprofits, and donate in person, if the spirit moves.

Thanks to the generosity of the McCune Foundation and United Way of Southwest New Mexico, donations can also be made by visiting www.givegrandly.org, where you can find information on all the participating nonprofits and a convenient way to donate. The donation platform will be live from now through May 18.

To make donating even easier, the back page of the newspaper insert generously sponsored by the Silver City Daily Press has a list of all 55 participating nonprofits. Fill in the boxes with the amounts you wish to donate to your favorite causes, add up the total and write just one check to the Grant County Community Foundation, which will faithfully distribute your donations to the organizations you have marked. The completed form, with your check, can be mailed in to Grant County Community Foundation (address provided on the page) or turned in to the Community Foundation’s Give Grandly booth at the Maker’s Market.

Donations will help each organization participating in Give Grandly 2022 to receive up to $500 in matching funds. This donation stimulus is provided by Give Grandly’s generous sponsors, who include Suzi & Janey; United Way of Southwest New Mexico; Freeport-McMoRan; Grant County Crime Stoppers; Sherman Community Foundation in Deming; Vladimir Gnilozubov, Edward Jones; Niel McDonald, Edward Jones; Better Homes and Gardens; Hidalgo Medical Services; and Kooler Ice. Any donations received by May 18 will be counted towards matching funds for the various organizations.

No matter how big or small the donation, everyone can be a philanthropist and support our local area nonprofits.
