Mata Ortiz Pottery Demonstration and Sale; Children's Activity

Silver City -- Master pottery artist Oralia Lopez of Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua, will demonstrate the signature Mata Ortiz style of painting intricate designs on pottery at the Silver City Museum Annex on Saturday, July 16, from 10 am to 4 pm as part of the 11th annual Silver City CLAY Festival, which begins Monday, July 11. A large selection of Mata Ortiz pottery will be available for purchase, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the museum. The Museum Annex is located at 302 W. Broadway in historic, downtown Silver City.

Children and families are invited to join in the fun and make their own hand-built clay vessels from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. This activity is free, and will take place in the courtyard on the east side of the museum.
