img 0774Silver City loves a parade! And one of the most memorable ones of the year is coming November 1. The Day of the Dead or Dia de los Muertos is a time of joyful celebration and remembrance of those friends and loved ones passed before.  The parade for this year’s event is just coming together and everyone is invited to participate!

This is a “ people powered” parade with no motorized vehicles and live music only. Entries may be funny, solemn, outrageous, beautiful as long as the dead are honored, it is family-friendly and focused on Day of the Dead themes.

If your creativity is needing a boost, plan to come to one of our Idea Workshops where you can have your questions answered, see photos of past entries, and get some tips and techniques for putting together your unique entry! Silver City Dia de los Muerotos / Facebook has more information.

There are many other ways to get involved, even if you are not having your own float. Help is needed in carrying banners, face painting, repair of existing puppets, and more. Just let us know what you would like to do!

Mark November 1, 5 p.m., on your calendar!  The Silver City Day of the Dead Parade has hosted enormous puppets, bicycle rickshaws, giant tire drummers, flying skeletons, and many more wild and beautiful creations. What will it be this year? It is up to you! Schools, Businesses, families, and individuals are all invited to participate.

Check out the Silver City Dia de los Muertos Facebook page for more information or contact Diana Ingalls at 575-388-5725 or Mana Casler at 575-534-9646 to have your questions answered.
