On Saturday April 22, 2023, the WNMU Fountain Stage in Regents Square will have the Mavericks playing. The gates open at 5:30 pm and they start at 6:30 pm
The Mavericks come from Florida and recently had a Grammy nomination. They have been on a tour to celebrate the nomination and new album, “The Mavericks en Español,” a Spanish language album. It will be their first ever all-Spanish album.
The band labels themselves at Latin-Alt-Country Flare. They cross boundaries between eclectic rock and country. The music has a beat that makes you want to get up and dance. Both the slow and fast songs encourage listeners to move their feet. Each song is reminiscent of mariachi, Cuban, Tex-Mex, salsa, a melting pot.
The band recently celebrated 30 years playing music together. They have retained four of the members of the core band. The new album has 12 tracks, with seven of the tunes will be familiar and five will be originals written by the band.
Tickets can be purchased online at their website starting April 20, 2023, after 3:00 pm at a cost of $30-$35. Tickets will also be available at the door for $40 until sold out.
