Monday (March 23, 2020), the New Mexico Department of Health and the Office of Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham provided an update on the status of COVID-19, along with an amendment to the public health emergency order issued for the state of New Mexico.

The amended emergency public health order provides further restrictions on non-essential businesses and clarification on other tourism and hospitality-related operations.

• All mass gatherings are hereby prohibited (groups of more than 5 people)
• All non-essential businesses and non-profits are prohibited from conducting business in office, retail, or other public locations of business. Non-essential businesses and non-profits CAN STILL conduct telework and online commerce.
• All casinos and horse racing facilities shall close. Casinos and horse racing facilities operating on tribal lands are exempt.
• Hotels, motels, RV parks and other lodging properties shall not operate beyond 50% maximum occupancy. Health care workers who are engaged in the provisions of care of New Mexico residents or individuals utilizing lodging for extended stays or temporary housing SHALL NOT be counted for purposes of determining maximum occupancy.
• Restaurants CAN STILL provide service through takeout and delivery ONLY. Breweries and distilleries CAN STILL provide service through curb side pickup ONLY.
