The COVID, FLU, RSV Report - December 3, 2022

THE OVERALL USA SUMMARY - December 3, 2022:

COVID, Flu, and RSV new cases are high; this season is concerning based on many health experts, caution has been advised. Two holidays, Thanksgiving and Veterans Day, in a row means cases and other data may have been under-reported based on past experience.

Covid cases rose in USA, NM, TX, but not in CO and AZ. Covid weekly cases rose to 363,933 this week up from 238,923 covid cases a week; this is still a very active virus. BQ--BF variant growth was slowing. Read on for more details.

Weekly US covid cases and beds and positivity all rose [page 5, 7, 8, 25]

Weekly Influenza cases were 33,997 up 10,000 from the prior week. Use caution. [page 38, 39]

Weekly RSV cases rose in AZ, CO, NM; but TX data undetermined. The US graph shows this year's surge much higher than last year's surge [page 40, 41]

OUR LOCAL GEOGRAPHIC AREA - Grant County Covid data:

Grant County Week on Week cases rose, [page 5, 16, 22]
Silver City and Hurley covid week on week cases rose, Bayard week on week cases leveled [page 17, 18].
Grant County covid hospital admissions fell to 1 in the last 7 days [page 19], but covid-like ED visits rose [page 23].
Covid deaths this week in Grant County 0, Luna 0, Sierra 0, Dona Ana 0 [page 15]

 

OUR STATE - New Mexico Covid data:

NM week on week cases this week rose, as did hospital bed usage; positivity leveled [page 13, 14, 24]

AZ cases leveled, beds and positivity rose. CO cases fell, beds and positivity rose. TX cases, beds, and positivity rose, [page 9, 10, 11].


HOSPITALS - Covid data:

* US COVID daily hospital admissions (7 day average) rose, beds in use rose, discharges fell [CDC] [page 25]
* COVID inpatient beds in use rose in AZ, CO, NM, and TX [HHS] [page 24]
* Grant County ED COVID like visits rose per HHS (their data lags) [page 20] and per NM DOH [page 23]
* COVID admissions in Grant County were 1 in the last 7 days (per CDC) [page 19]
