Location:           Silver City Ranger District on the Gila National Forest
                          NW of Signal Peak Lookout
                          Grant County, New Mexico

Start Date: June 3, 2018 at 3:11 p.m.                                   Size:  ~15 acres

Cause: Under Investigation                                                    Containment: 0%

Resources:  One Hot Shot Crew, 2 Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATS), 2 hand crews consisting of 18 people, Smoke jumpers, two Type 6 engines and 1 Type 3 helicopter.          
Fuels: grass, oak brush, heavy dead and down and ponderosa pine

Incident Commander: Huerta, ICT4

Summary:  The Meadow Fire is burning on Forest Service lands north of Signal Peak. Initial attack crews are responding for full suppression strategy.

Smoke will be visible in Pinos Altos and surrounding areas. Smoke from fire rises up and away during the daytime, but in the evening smoke can pool back down in canyons, drainages, and basins. Smoke-sensitive individuals and people with respiratory or heart disease are encouraged to take precautionary measures.  Information on air quality and protecting your health can be found online at the New Mexico Department of Health website at https://nmtracking.org/fire.
