Thomas Laws, 61, of Silver City, arrested on Aug. 26, 2019, for violating provisions of the Securities and Exchange Commission, including nine counts of wire fraud, seven counts of transporting or transmission of money stolen and converted by fraud, and two counts of identity theft, made an initial court appearance in U.S. District Court – Las Cruces on Aug. 28, 2019. On Aug, 30, he was arraigned, and on Sept. 6, Laws was released on a $5,000 secured bond with conditions.

Laws has a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 16, in U.S. District Court – Las Cruces, at which time a trial date will be set, according to district court staff. District court staff also believe the trial will occur sometime in November, however, Laws’ attorney, Daniel Rubin of Las Cruces, would not comment on that.
