At approximately 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2019, a firearm was accidentally discharged in the parking lot of the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. According to a GCSO press release, one deputy sustained a non-life threatening injury. A GCSO spokesperson confirmed to the Beat it was a handgun, but information as to whether it was a duty or personal weapon or its caliber was not made available. The deputy was treated at Gila Regional Medical Center shortly after, and released.

The incident remains under investigation.
