On Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at about 1 p.m., New Mexico State Police officers were called to an ATV crash at 51 Chamisa Road in Mimbres, New Mexico. According to the NMSP, the 12-year-old male driver of the 2003 Yamaha ATV and his 2-year-old passenger were critically injured and air-lifted to a hospital in Texas. The driver appears to have lost control of the vehicle and crashed due to speed, driver inattention, and other improper driving factors, NMSP said.

The father, Luke Gomez, was cited for operation and safety infractions.
