The Tamal Fiesta y Mas took place in Santa Clara on a balmy fall day, Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019. A car show lined one side of Bayard Street and booths were on both sides of the street. Performers and speakers used Viola Stone Park as their venue.
As is customary for the Tamal Fiesta, music and dance entertained those coming to buy tamales to eat on the spot or take home, check out the car show, look at what vendors had to offer, talk to folks at information booths and simply visit with friends they hadn't seen since last year or last week.
Santa Clara Mayor Richard Bauch welcomed everyone to the annual Tamal Fiesta. Silver City Mayor Ken Ladner complimented Bauch and his team for doing "great things for Santa Clara."
District 28 New Mexico Senator Gabriel Ramos also addressed the audience and agreed that hosting the fiesta in Santa Clara was a great idea.
New Mexico 2nd District U.S. Congresswoman Xochitl Torres-Small said: "Traditions only grow if you're rooted in them to begin with. It's an honor and humbling to be representing you as you make places where kids can stay home to meet their highest goals."
