The Pinos Altos Volunteer Fire Department was called out a third time Saturday, this time at 12:47 p.m. to a grass fire at 4913 Cottonwood Drive in Indian Hills. Personnel from various PAVFD substations and the Silver City Fire Department's #2 station on 32nd Street assisted in the incident.

According to Jennifer Olson, PAVFD's Public Information Officer, the fire scorched a little less than an acre. There were no injuries, and the fire was cleared at 2:15.

SCFD Incident Commander Lt. Preston Johnson told the Beat even with the warm, windy weather, the fire was contained before any structures could be threatened. No cause for the fire could be determined Olson and Johnson said. Johnson expressed appreciation for the way PAVFD responded.
