Thursday, June 11, 2020, at about 11:30 a.m., Grant County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to an aggravated battery with a deadly weapon call at 8682 Highway 180 in Riverside. Deputies were advised that a man was running around waving a gun and had hit someone with it.

According to a GCSO offense report, when deputies arrived, they found Justin Williamson, 45, of Cliff, on the porch holding onto his walker and the porch railing. The report stated that Justin is disabled, suffering from ankylosing spondylitis. Justin told deputies that his brother, Jubal Williamson, broke into his house by throwing a brick through his glass screen door and pushed him down on the coffee table. Justin said, according to the report that he defended himself by hitting Jubal with a pistol but didn't point it at him.

Deputies then spoke with Jubal, 39, also of Cliff, who stated, according to the report, that he went over to ask Justin why he was spotlighting his family while they were in the backyard. Justin got aggravated at that point, Jubal said, grabbed their father's pistol, pointed it at him, and pulled the trigger, but the weapon did not fire. Jubal continued, the report said, that when he attempted to grab the gun, Justin whipped him with the pistol on top of his head.

Video and bodycam footage along with photos of the scene and the weapon were taken into evidence.

Justin was placed under arrest, charged with aggravated battery and transported first to Gila Regional Medical Center for medical clearance and then to GCSO for booking paperwork.
