Silver City, NM, June 16, 2020—For Immediate Release. A Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team has been assigned to assess post fire conditions for the Tadpole Fire, on the Silver City Ranger District, Gila National Forest.

A BAER team addresses situations in burned areas and evaluates what values might be at risk and determine if threats to cultural or natural resources exist. BAER is "first aid"—immediate stabilization that often begins before a fire is fully contained.

"Our team has begun the area assessment and once all the field assessments are completed, we will plan what Is needed and then, we will be ready to hit the ground running to begin we will evaluate and determine post-fire values at risk and determine if any treatments are warranted or necessary," says BAER Team Leader, Mike Natharius.
