A Silver City Police Department officer responded Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020, at about 12:11 p.m., to a suspicious vehicle call on Market Street. A caller to the Grant County Regional Dispatch Authority stated a male was going up and down the street and stopping and looking at all the mail boxes. The female caller also advised that the male was now parked near the apartment complex on Market Street and was wearing shorts, a straw hat, and a fanny pack, with a blue lanyard around his neck. The officer advised out on a traffic stop with the vehicle.

On Wednesday, Aug.19, 2020, at about 12:27 p.m., a Santa Clara Police Department officer responded to a suspicious vehicle call on N. James Street. This female caller to GCRDA said a male in a white Ford Explorer was going up and down the street and keeps getting out and knocking on doors. The caller advised that the male was also pacing on the grass by a stop sign while on the phone. The officer made contact with the vehicle on Todd Street.

According to police blotter entries, officers determined in both incidents the males were census workers.
