A Silver City Police Department officer responded to 1412 N. Bennett Street at approximately 10:45 p.m. in reference to an injuring/tampering with a motor vehicle complaint. The officer had been advised by the Grant County Regional Dispatch Authority that a female said her vehicle's window had been broken by another female.

When officers arrived at the address the victim told them, according to an SCPD report narrative, she and a male friend had arrived at 1605 Canal Street at about 10:30 p.m. to pick up her dog from Andrea Amyx, who had been caring for the animal, when the two females got in an argument. Amyx, the narrative said, told the 27-year-old victim she needed to leave the property and when the victim got in her van to leave, Amyx punched the victim's driver side door window with her closed fist causing it to shatter. Officers noted the damage to the victim's vehicle and later, also observed shattered glass at the Canal Street address

A witness who was sitting in the rear seat of the victim's vehicle during the incident confirmed the victim's account.

Amyx refused to come to the door at her Canal Street address to speak with officers, but later she called GCRDA admitting she had used her right fist to break the driver's window to the victim's vehicle. She also stated she sustained a small laceration to her right hand but did not require any medical attention.

Charges were filed against Amyx for injuring or tampering with a motor vehicle.
