Acting on a tip received early the week of Mar. 8, 2021, the Silver City Police Department has been conducting an investigation searching for a deceased individual at the Silver City Golf Course. The search began Wednesday, Mar. 10, and is concentrating on three ponds, according to Silver City Police Chief Freddy Portillo. Rumor has it the body may be that of Toni Padilla, a 58-year-old woman missing since July 5, 2020, however Portillo would only say that it was "an individual."

The SCPD is using every resource at its command in the search, Portillo told the Beat. He stated the course is closed and urged the public to stay away.
