The Beat received information from a local citizen that a medevac helicopter lifted off from the Cobre High School parking lot the morning of Monday, May 8, 2023. The Beat contacted the Bayard Police Department, the Cobre School Administration, and the Grant County Sheriff’s officer, all stating they did not respond to that incident or had no knowledge of it.

EMS told the Beat that the chopper was air-lifting a patient to another facility and the CHS parking lot zone was the one closest to the medical event.
