The Silver City Art Association invites artists in southwest New Mexico to enter  the 2019 Dias de los Muertos Art Contest and Exhibit. The winning entry will be honored by being  featured  on the 2019 Dia de los Muertos poster as well as included in other marketing of this annual event. A juried exhibit at the Murray Ryan Visitor Center in Silver City will feature the winning entry along with other selected entries!  There will be a surprise gift certificate for the winning entry and bragging rights are a real bonus! Artists in all 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional art medias are invited to enter.  Entries are due by August 30, 2019. Email photos of  artwork entries to Rebecca@visitsilvercity.org.

The annual Silver City  Dia de los Muertos days of remembrance and celebration take place October 27 through November 2, 2019. It will begin with a street festival and parade and continue through the following days with events throughout the community including numerous ofrendas, events at the Silver City Museum, Western New Mexico University, Silver City Library as well as numerous galleries and other local businesses.  These are all days to be remembered and times treasured with families, friends and neighbors.

Applications are now being taken for those wanting to participate in the street celebration as vendors, artists and crafters or with  activity  booths. This is a very special occaision for all to come together, young and old, in a sense of community and to honor this important  tradition and blending of the spirit of life and death in an amazing and  joyous way.
