The Silver City Public Library will soon install a glass partition wall to establish a new teen area. The wall will be located near the library’s Information Desk, enclosing a low-ceiling area where public computers have previously been housed. The wall will be installed on Saturday, September 28. The library will be closed to the public on this day to allow the construction to take place.

The dedicated space for teens will feature computers, comfortable furniture for socializing and studying, and equipment for video games. The area will be comfortable and inviting for teens, who are encouraged to express their own ideas about what should be included in the new space and how it will be decorated.

In addition to adding a teen area, the library is working to make its spaces more flexible and more usable for community members who bring their own laptops and other devices. There are already new tables in the Southwest Collection room with nearby power outlets for laptop users. Wireless printing has been enabled, allowing people to print documents from laptops, tablets, and smartphones. There are also new colorful tables in the center of the library, which hold public desktop computers. The Information Desk will be upgraded to accommodate more of the library’s services. Community members can look forward to more computer access options in the near future.
