December 1, at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street  – "Child Ballads"

This presentation by Pat Sterling, Emeritus Professor of English at Western Colorado University, will focus on three Christmas carols which are also traditional ballads dating back hundreds of years.  Sterling is particularly interested in how these ballads reflect the common folks' attempts to humanize biblical stories. For example, if Christ was the Son of God, did that mean that even as a child he was perfect and never misbehaved, unlike every other boy who has walked the earth? Joe Neri will perform one of the carols, and the other two will be short video clips. Copies of the lyrics for all three carols will be available.

Although this is not a Family Program Sunday, childcare will be available or the children can take part in the service.

There will be coffee and conversation after the service, and visitors are always welcome.
