Silver City, NM, November 26, 2019—The December 3 meeting of PFLAG Silver City will focus on navigating the holidays, 6:00 PM, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 3845 N. Swan. Please note the earlier time.

While for some people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) holidays mean celebration, joy, family, and togetherness, for others it can mean a time of stress, difficulty, and even sadness or depression, especially if one feels that they aren’t able to come out or are not out to everyone in the family. Sitting through a family meal, or visiting through an entire weekend or week, can be challenging enough, but what happens if a person is not yet in a position to be true to their authentic self ?

PFLAG members will share their stories and advice for LGBTQ persons and their families and allies on how to successfully get through family gatherings. The public is invited, but confidential support is always available for those who need it. Light refreshments will be served.

There will be no January meeting; the next regular PFLAG meeting will be on February, 4, 2020.

Founded in 1973 after the simple act of a mother publicly supporting her gay son, PFLAG is the nation's largest family and ally organization.  For more information, call 575-590-8797 or visit pflag.org.
