In honor of the upcoming Feast Day of regional Catholic icon the Virgin of Guadalupe, a.k.a. Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Silver City Museum presents local aficionado and "Guadalupana" Della Acosta . Ms. Acosta will relate the fabulous story and rich symbolism behind this beloved figure on December 7th from 10:30-11:30am, at The Silco Theatre at 311 N. Bullard Street.

Della Acosta is a native Grant Countian, long-time parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and many years a member of the Society of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Inspired by faith and family, Ms. Acosta represents the third generation of women in her family with a special devotion and connection to Our Lady of Guadalupe.

This is a first of several events that the Silver City Museum will host at The Silco Theatre, as crowds for our programs have begun to outgrow the Museum Annex. Movie theater concessions will be available for purchase.

The Silver City Museum creates opportunities for residents and visitors to explore, understand, and celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of southwestern New Mexico by collecting, preserving, researching, and interpreting the region's unique history. Admission is free; a suggested donation of $5 helps support the museum’s education programs, collections care and exhibitions. For more information, please contact the museum at (575) 538-5921 education@silvercitymuseum.org , or visit the museum's website: www.silvercitymuseum.org
