Barrio Manouche – Flamenco gypsy jazz

The San Francisco-based acoustic ensemble performs a repertoire of original compositions with an emotionally charged sound that is instantly recognizable. The group’s international roots shine brightly with members from Spain, Quebec, France, Brazil and California. Barrio Manouche has been recognized for its innovative style, complex technique, and its passion for musical improvisations. With latest collaborations including French Flamenco dancer Fanny Ara, African sacred dance Brazilian dancer Emaye Ama Mizani, as well as Colombian singer Iván Rondón, Barrio Manouche plays what is perhaps the truest definition of World Music.

Concert: Sons of Mystro: Hip hop, reggae, pop Violin duo
TIME:7:00 PM

Born in South Florida to a Jamaican father and Barbadian mother, Malcolm, 23, and his 20-year old brother Umoja learned to play violin through South Florida’s public school system. Together, these brothers are Sons of Mystro. They use their violins to interpret reggae classics, American pop songs and their own creations accompanied by beats, and sometimes a DJ & guitarist. They are winners of the Emerging Artist under 21yrs Old award at IRAWMA (International Reggae and World Music Awards) and have been mentored by Black Violin.
