Mimbres, NM, January 22, 2020 -- The Gila National Forest, Wilderness Ranger District has suspended the trash service at the Sapillo Campground for the winter season. The dumpster has been removed and visitors are being asked to not dispose of trash in the fire rings or leave it in the campground area.  This action will be reevaluated in the spring when seasonal recreational staff may be available to assist with trash pick-up.

“For the past number of years, the Wilderness Ranger District has provided trash service at the Sapillo Campground” said District Ranger Rachelle Huddleston-Lorton.  “Due to financial and staffing constraints we are unable to continue that through the winter.  I am asking our visitors to please “pack it in and pack it out” so that we can keep the campground open through the winter.”
