Lisa Garcia will speak to the Silver City Rotary Club on Tuesday, March 17, about the Science Education Initiative of Grant County.  A retired teacher who taught at Cobre High School for 26 years, Garcia will tell how a group of local teachers are training other teachers to increase student knowledge about science and the implications of new state standards on the field of chemistry and various science projects. The public is invited to attend.

The Silver City Rotary Club meets every Tuesday for lunch in the Sunset Room of the Western New Mexico Student Cafeteria, on the second floor of the WNMU Student Memorial Building. The lunch line opens at noon, the meeting begins at 12:15 p.m. and the presentation begins at 12:30 p.m. There is no charge to attend the meeting and presentation, but guests who wish to partake of the lunch of a hot entrée, a salad, and a dessert are asked to pay $10.

Since its founding in 1923, the Silver City Rotary Club has provided support and service to numerous non-profit organizations and civic causes in Silver City and Grant County as well as supporting and participating in humanitarian projects sponsored by Rotary International.
