Silver City, NM, March 25, 2020 — The Gila National Forest began closing developed recreation sites and visitor restrooms this week. To keep ourselves, our communities and our outdoor spaces safe and healthy please remember to Leave No Trace.

Trash receptacles are not going to be emptied. Trash overflowing the receptacles becomes litter and can be harmful to wildlife and attract predators. Please pack all your trash out with you all the way home and dispose of it there. When you see that a restroom is closed, please do not deposit your solid wastes outside the restrooms. This practice creates a health hazard for our employees and for other visitors.
