Stress, uncertainty, and pent up anxiety – these are common feelings for many of us during the current global events. These states of mind are not healthy and they’re not sustainable. It’s an ideal time for a Fall cleanse using Ayurveda principles.

Lotus Center is offering a 10-day fall cleanse beginning with an introductory workshop on Wednesday, September 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. on Zoom. The cleanse itself begins on Monday, October 12 and lasts until Wednesday October 21. Lotus Center has modified the cleanse instruction and ongoing participation from an in-person model to an internet format to adhere to social distancing.

Now is an excellent time to detoxify your body from the heat that may have built up over summer. This is a great opportunity for self-care, renewal, and re-invigoration. For the last four years Cate Bradley has guided participants for fall cleanses through the Lotus Center. She has been benefiting from the ancient knowledge of seasonal Ayurevdic cleansing for ten years.

“We all need to re-balance ourselves from the profound changes that have swept over the world,” Bradley says. “Now more than ever we need to calm and re-center ourselves and our internal systems, and we need to build and strengthen our immune systems. The fall cleanse offers that opportunity.”

A fall Ayurvedic cleanse is a time to eliminate the food groups that clog, slow down, or over-stimulate our bodily systems. Cleansing protocols encourage consumption of foods that are seasonal and easier to assimilate, recommend herbs that support our organs of digestion and immunity, and gather with other cleansers, by video technology, to share experiences and offer support and community.”

Ayurevedic knowledge is over 5,000 years old and it is based on the balance of foods, personal body constitutions, and herbal supplements in order to promote good health and vitality. The practice is based on the belief that food is medicine.

“A Fall cleanse, especially at this time, is a great way to incorporate an intentional gift of generosity and good health to yourself,” said Lotus Center Director Jeff Goin. “It’s a really important time to take care of our immune systems and ourselves going forward.”

Ayurvedic herbs are an important component of the cleanses. Lotus Center will order herbs and pass on bulk discount rates to participants. While the cleanse is offered for a $25 donation to the Lotus Center, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Proceeds will benefit the Lotus Center.
