The holiday season will begin with the 30th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade in downtown Silver City. The Lighted Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 from 7 pm to 8 pm.  This year there is no theme or entry fee to make it easier for groups to participate. This community event is sponsored by Silver City MainStreet and the Town of Silver City.

Due to the pandemic, the parade will be a static or reverse parade. Silver City MainStreet worked with Chief of Police Portillo and the Town of Silver City to determine the best way to have this well loved holiday event. Floats will line up and stay in place on both sides of Broadway St. Families can enjoy the floats from the comfort and warmth of their cars. Floats will stay in place from 7 pm to 8 pm to give residents time to drive up and down Broadway St. and see all the floats on both sides of the street.

“The parade is a thirty year long tradition in Silver City and it is a great way to promote your business or organization while giving back to the community, states Patrick Hoskins, Board President of Silver City MainStreet. This year especially, it is important to do something fun and festive for families and children.”

To get an entry form, please, email Brenda Tozier at scmsinfo@silvercitymainstreet.com or Charmeine@silvercitymainstreet.com  or contact the Silver City MainStreet Project at 575-534-1700.  Entry forms are available online at www.silvercitymainstreet.com.

Floats will be judged for child appeal, lighting, and originality with awards given out at the end of the parade.

In addition to the parade, Silver City MainStreet will be sponsoring a Merchant Holiday Window Contest and an Ugly Holiday Face Mask contest with prizes.

The mission of Silver City MainStreet is "To encourage a vibrant, historic downtown Silver City that is recognized as the heart of our diverse community." Please visit our website, www.silvercitymainstreet.com to learn more.
