Wednesday, January 26, 2022 - Silver Consolidated Schools has been awarded funding for five Educator Fellows beginning immediately, for Spring 2022 Semester through the Fall Semester 2023.  These five positions are for candidates enrolled or currently enrolled to become teachers!  Silver is seeking candidates immediately.  

“As schools return to the classroom, teachers need this additional help. We need more adults in the room to deliver that extra help.”  “Our goal is to create one of the nation’s best educator ecosystems,” Public Education Secretary Designate Kurt Steinhaus said. “This program can serve as a pathway for more people to enter the education profession.”

Educator Fellows is a two-year program managed by the New Mexico Public Education Department. Those chosen will receive grants to cover these costs:

  • An Educational Assistant’s full salary plus benefits
  • A stipend ($1,000 a semester) to support each fellow’s postsecondary education
  • All licensure and background fees

PED Stipulations for this program include:

  • Educator Fellows funding must be used to create new (current employees are ineligible) FTE (full-time employee) Educator Fellow or Educational Assistant (EA) position(s).
  • Ensure that the Fellow has enrolled in a higher education institution by the next semester following the date of hire. - Will require a record of higher education enrollment - Will require a record of Ed. Fellow’s higher education schedule by term
  • The Ed Fellow must be willing to be employed in the capacity of an educational assistant and be able to provide small group intervention, high dosage tutoring, or one on one support and/or support the master teacher in a way that allows the teacher to provide small group intervention, high dosage tutoring, or one on one support.
