“Silver City Community Theatre (SCCT) is back!” according to MaryAnn Marlar, SCCT President. “Thanks to Wendy Spurgeon, our tireless Artistic Director, we have an SCCT Season through February 2023.
“Most SCCT productions will be at our new home, SC Starlight Theatre, 20th and Gold Sts, Silver City. Some productions are tentatively scheduled, but we want to let our fans know what to put on their calendars and to encourage performers of all ages to be on the lookout for casting calls/auditions.

“SCCT was sustained through the pandemic by Zoom productions and by SCCT Radio Hour, 5 pm every Sunday on KURU/GMCR 89.1FM. Our return to the stage was ‘Bug’ presented by SCCT Youth Project. Both are mainstays of the upcoming season.
“We are delighted to invite Live Studio Audiences to the taping of SCCT Radio Hour at Starlight Theatre. Every Saturday through the end of June we are taping a favorite of the Golden Age of Radio, ‘Sam Spade’ featuring Gregg Jarrette as Sam Spade. And, don’t miss the taping Orson Welles ‘War of the Worlds’ in September! It traumatized the nation!!
“SCCT Youth Project is going strong with an original "Snake Oil" show at the Hummingbird Festival in Mimbres, July 30-31. And, Fall Break Drama Camp, October 10-15.

“Be the Community in Community Theater—join SCCT! Individual and family memberships receive tickets and admission to opening night parties and workshops. Family memberships are $35; individual memberships, $20. Additionally, we have great community sponsors and recognize them in programs and other publications,” according Marlar.
A home-grown theater company, SCCT grew out of a series of acting classes presented by The Western Institute for Lifelong Learning (WILL). Several class members joined forces to create the Silver City Community Theatre. Now after 6 years and many productions, SCCT’s mission continues: to enrich, educate and entertain the Silver City and Grant County communities by providing a broad range of live theater experiences on a recurring, seasonal basis.
