The Silver City community is coming together to help a local shelter who desperately needs beds to accommodate elderly and disabled people in need of housing.

SOS (Seasonal Overnight Shelter) at SPIN in Silver City says they provide clients of all ages and genders secure housing, food, laundry facilities, counseling for mental health issues, guidance for obtaining work, Medicaid, HUD housing and Food Stamps.

The shelter says they've recently had a flood of elderly people in need of housing, sparking them to start a GoFundMe to purchase extra beds. Community members are stepping in to help; so far nearly $1,000 of a $2,400 goal has been raised.
