Purpose: Obtain public input concerning the Tyrone Mine Expansion (Emma Pit)
This is a critical expansion
All on private land
This is critical to maintaining mining at Tyrone and the 350 employees
We need to encourage agencies to approve the necessary permits

The public may join in person or remotely to give input

E-mail EMNRD.MMD2@state.nm.us and a response with information on how to join remotely will be sent.

Additional points to consider:
Mining jobs and tax revenue are the backbone of the Grant County economy
The Emma project is very important to extend the life of the Tyrone mine and to maintain mine jobs
The Emma Project will produce much-needed U.S. produced copper, which is in demand for renewable energy and electrification
Freeport-McMoRan has repeatedly demonstrated that it takes environmental protection seriously and does a first-rate job of mined land reclamation.
The Mining and Minerals Division should issue the permit as expeditiously as it can.

Excerpt from cover letter for the Emma permit application

"The Emma project is a key part of Tyrone's ten-year mine plan and critical to keeping the mine operating and the continued positive economic impact for our employees, our community and state for many years to come."
