Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest is hosting FREE activities over fall break in October 2022 at the Girl Scout Little House at 302 West 11th Street in Silver City, NM. Girl Scouts is for all girls who are currently attending Kindergarten through 12th grade. If you are not already a Girl Scout, please arrive 15 minutes early with a guardian/parent to fill out a registration form. Registration is only $25 for a year, and some funding is available.

The journey begins with the Girl Scout environment itself. A girl’s leadership potential blooms among other girls, away from school pressures, social cliques, and boys. This is where she can be herself and try new things. Among Girl Scouts, activities are girl-led. She learns by doing, and the learning is cooperative, not competitive. The Girl Scout experience gives young women the confidence and the tools to lead; to find inside the uncertain girl, the citizen who will make a difference in her world.

October 17 and 19, 10:30 AM–12:00 PM MT-Girl Scout Fun (girls in K–5th grade). Learn what Girl Scouts do, make your own board game which we will play, and talk about ways to earn, save, and spend money.

October 18 and 20, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM MT-Sewing for Fun (girls in 6th-12th grades). If you have a sewing machine, please bring one, I have 4 that I can lend out or share. We will make 3 different projects that you could use as gifts. If there is time, we could create a 4th project and talk about how they could make these to give as gifts or sell at a craft fair.

Please RSVP by 12:00 PM MT October 11  by calling Annette Toney, local Customer Engagement Specialist, at 575-538-2481 Ext 4242 or email me at info@gsdsw.org attention Annette so I can be sure to have enough supplies. For more information, go to gsdsw.org.
