Schroeder, a graduate of Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health, joined the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) in 2022 and is the Health Promotion Specialist for both Grant and Hidalgo counties.
According to information provided by Schroeder, Health Promotion Specialists are critical to the mission of the NMDOH. They are expected to fully own the State Health Improvement Priorities and focus on health at the population level to improve health outcomes that impact individuals and the communities they live in. These specialists are intended to keep a pulse on both assets and barriers within local communities and are instrumental in providing resources, technical assistance, data gathering and education to their communities
