Silver City, NM - The Office of Multicultural Events and Student Activities (MASA) is kicking-off Black History Month with a celebration of African drumming and dancing on Saturday, February 4 at 7:00 p.m. in theMiller Library.
The event African Drumming And Dancing will be demonstrated by the group New World Drummers.
The annual student and community favorite Gospel Music Extravaganza in its twelfth year will bring back familiar musical groups like the David Milner and Company as well as new talent on February 25. The event is followed by a free soul food dinner prepared by Brewer Hills Baptist Church Catering Services and the MASA Office.
Other events include a student panel, civil rights training, a traditional Nigerian meal and a celebration of African American music through history. Events are free to the public.

Gospel Music Extravaganza: Musical groups and soul food dinner - Saturday, February 25, 5pm, Global Resource Center Auditorium
Soul Food Lunch: Meal prepared by Sodexho Food Services - Wednesday, February 29, 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Mustang Dining Hall ($6.14 for members of the public)
