Fatal Crash on Interstate 40 in Guadalupe County  Guadalupe County- On November 12, 2019 at about 7:40 a.m., New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash on Interstate 40 involving two Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) near milepost 302, east of Santa Rosa, NM.

The initial investigation shows a 2018 Freightliner CMV, driven by a twenty-two-year-old male of Bakersfield, CA was driving east on Interstate 40.  For reasons still under investigation the CMV collided into the rear end of a 2017 Freightliner CMV that had merged onto eastbound Interstate 40, near milepost 302.  The twenty-two-year-old male driver was uninjured.  A passenger in 2018 Freightliner, Sharanjit Singh (22) of Stocton, CA who was asleep in the rear sleeper berth at the time of the crash sustained fatal injuries.  He was transported to the Guadalupe County Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital by a Doctor.

The driver and passenger of the 2017 Freightliner CMV, a thirty-eight-year-old-male and a twenty-six-year-old-male both of Jackson, MS were both uninjured in the crash.    

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and seatbelts appear to have been utilized by all except for the passenger who was pronounced deceased.  The name of the driver’s and passenger will not be released at this time due to no charges filed.  No additional information is available.
