Santa Fe, NM –The Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department State Parks Division welcomes Dr. Lillis Urban as the new Superintendent of Elephant Butte Lake State Park, home to New Mexico’s largest lake. Superintendent Urban began working for Elephant Butte Lake State Park this month and has lived and worked in New Mexico for almost 20 years.

She holds a Doctorate in Biology from New Mexico State University where she focused on Ecology and Botany. Superintendent Urban is committed to working collaboratively with the community and with partners. Her past work includes positions at New Mexico State University, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs on the Navajo Nation. 

Aside from working with communities to support land management, she spends time playing music andloves recreating in southern New Mexico.
