UPDATE: Las Vegas, NM - On December 2, 2019 at around 11:00 a.m., Felix Romero walked into the New Mexico State Police office in Las Vegas, New Mexico and surrendered peacefully.

Romero was taken into custody and booked into the San Miguel County Detention Center. Romero was charged with the following:

Original notice: Las Vegas, NM - On November 30, 2019 at approximately 1:00 p.m., New Mexico State Police were called to the San Miguel County Detention Center located at 26 NM Highway 283 in reference to an inmate who escaped from the facility. The inmate was identified asFelix Romero (22) of Las Vegas, NM. 

Romero broke a window in the reintegration building and walked away from the facility. It is unknown Romero’s direction of travel. He is described as a Hispanic male who is 5’4”, 180 pounds bald with brown eyes. He has tattoos on his neck and head. Tattoo of Brenda on his neck. Romero was last seen wearing white t-shirt and grey sweatpants. 

Romero was incarcerated to the facility for an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear and a Probation Violation. Romero has a history of Trafficking a controlled Substance, Battery on a Peace Officer, Unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, and Criminal Damage to Property.
