Prospectus #256 T.I.M.E. Public Art Engagement Project - Hobbs, New Mexico

New Mexico Arts and the Hobbs Local Selection Committee seek to commission one or more temporary public art projects inspired by the community's goals to activate public spaces, contribute to placemaking, and engage community members and visitors. Individual artists and artist teams are encouraged to apply. The project is open to New Mexico residents aged 18 years and older. Artists in all stages of their careers are encouraged to apply.

Make Music Everywhere!

Next week, Tuesday, December 10 through Thursday, December 12, 2019, staff for U.S. Senator Tom Udall will host information sessions across the state about establishing New Mexico's first Make Music Day. Make Music Day is an international music festival held annually on June 21 in more than 750 cities and 120 countries, and is open to anyone wishing to take part.

Sessions dates and locations:

Tuesday, December 10, 2019 in Taos, Española, and Santa Fe

Wednesday, December 11, 2019 in Gallup and Albuquerque

Thursday, December 12, 2019 in Mesilla/Las Cruces and El Paso

Prospectus #254 US Native and Indigenous Artists Purchase Initiative

Calling all Native and Indigenous artists! The Art in Public Places Program at New Mexico Arts announces the 2019 US Native and Indigenous Artists Purchase Initiative. The project is open to Native American, Native Hawaiian, or Alaska Native artists who reside in the United States as well as galleries in the U.S. who sell the work of Native Artists. Galleries may submit qualifications on behalf of any artist represented by the gallery, regardless of the artist's residency, so long as the artist identifies as a member of a Native American, Native Hawaiian, or Alaska Native tribe or community. All media in all genres, suitable for interior or exterior display, will be considered for purchase and display at publicly accessible buildings throughout the State of New Mexico. Project amounts are $1,000 - $50,000 all-inclusive. Please check out the Call for Artists on Café. The deadline for submissions is February 28, 2020.
