Dona Ana County, NM – On March 13, 2020 at about 10:00 a.m. the New Mexico State Police responded to a single vehicle rollover on New Mexico State Road 28 at around mile post 13 south of Las Cruces. 

The initial investigation indicates that a 2001 Chevrolet driven by David Valdez (36) of La Mesa, NM was north bound on New Mexico State Road 28. For unknown reasons the Chevrolet left the roadway, rolled and struck a utility. Valdez suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.  

Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor and seatbelts do not appear to have been properly utilized. This crash is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
