(Albuquerque, N.M.) – Today, the PNM Resources Foundation announced it collectively gave $210,000 to sixteen nonprofits for their work in improving the quality of life for the nearly 2,500 homeless in New Mexico. Each nonprofit grant recipient has programs making an impact throughout the state that reduces homelessness and shares the PNM Resources Foundation vision of moving New Mexico forward together.

“No one has the resources to end homelessness alone, but the PNM Resources Foundation can play a powerful role in supporting nonprofits that work tirelessly to serve those experiencing homelessness in New Mexico each and every day,” said Wayne Frye, PNM Resources Foundation board president. “We will always have a strong commitment to local communities and believe we have a responsibility for making the vision of reducing homelessness a reality in New Mexico.”

A recent U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development report shows New Mexico had the nation’s largest percentage increase in homelessness last year. The report also shows that the state had a 57 percent increase, the highest in the nation, of people who have been homeless for more than a year.

For many experiencing homelessness in New Mexico, nonprofits are their lifeline. PNM Resources Foundation collectively gave the following sixteen nonprofits $210,000 in grants to help them further their important mission:
