This increases access to affordable housing during coronavirus pandemic; Grants help improve quality of life for more than 4,000 New Mexicans while moving the state forward

(Albuquerque, N.M.) –  Today, the PNM Resources Foundation announced it collectively awarded $100,000 to twenty nonprofits for their work towards increasing access to affordable housing in New Mexico. The funding positively impacts more than 4,000 people by creating new futures and better potential outcomes for them as well as New Mexico.

“Providing power is at the core of what PNM does, but we do so much more than that for New Mexico,” said Laurie Roach, PNM Resources Foundation executive director. “The Foundation supports increasing access to affordable housing because it can lead to job creation, economic growth, vibrant communities, and personal transformation - all of which will help move our state in the right direction.”

The PNM Resources Foundation collectively awarded the following twenty nonprofits $100,000 in grants to help increase access to affordable housing during the pandemic and to help further their important community missions:

Access to affordable housing increases civic engagement, graduation rates, property tax base, and economic stability which all positively impact the state. Being housed provides life transforming help to break the cycles of poverty, addiction, and trauma. Getting people better access to affordable housing will provide opportunities to attain employment, secure permanent housing, and integrate productively back into the community after experiencing incredible hardship.

The PNM Resources Foundation and PNM Corporate Giving together have awarded more than $20 million in the past 6 years to nonprofit organizations. Since 1983, the PNM Resources Foundation has helped improve the quality of life by supporting nonprofit organizations served by PNM. The PNM Resources Foundation is a separate, nonprofit, tax exempt corporation governed by a board of trustees comprised of PNM Resources employees. No customer funds are part of the PNM Resources Foundation endowment.
