In all construction zones, motorists are asked to reduce speed, obey posted signs, and use extreme caution, as well as continue to be cautious of heavy equipment and construction personnel in the area. PLEASE NOTE: Conditions are subject to change without notice. Double fines for speeding in work zones may be in effect.

Interstates: 

I-25 southbound, Mile Marker 100 to 89, T or C 

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will be performing “Fog Sealing” with Brooming operations in Sierra Co., north of Truth or Consequences on the southbound lanes from milepost 100 to 89.  Speed limits will be reduced and no center stripe. Traffic will encounter lane drops as needed starting Monday November 23rd to Wednesday November 25, 2020 from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm.    

I-25 & University Ave, Mile Marker 1, Las Cruces 

The New Mexico Department of Transportation has suspended work on the I-25 University Avenue Project effective Wednesday, November 18, 2020 due to increasing cases of COVID-19. This decision has been made to protect the health and safety of the construction team as well as the traveling public and nearby residents and businesses. All traffic barricades will remain in place for safety. Construction is scheduled to resume on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Questions, Concerns: Visit www.i25-university.com or www.nmroads.com   

I-25, Mile Marker 59 to 72, T or C 

J-H Supply, Inc. (Contractor) will be replacing the guardrail and end treatments along I-25 in Sierra County. Traffic can expect lane closures in the northbound and southbound driving right lane and shoulder as the contractor is performing these safety improvements. Overnight lanes closures can be expected between milepost 59 and 64. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed by winter 2020.  

I-10, Mile Marker 19 to 24, Lordsburg  

Mountain States Construction, Inc. (Contractor) has begun a pavement preservation project through Lordsburg on I-10 for the westbound lanes and several on/off ramps.  Traffic can expect various daytime lane closures as well as overnight lane closures as needed. I-10 eastbound at exit 20(Lordsburg West) and the eastbound exit at milepost 24(Lordsburg East) the on ramps are CLOSED due to construction. The Lordsburg Visitor Center is currently closed. Contractor’s hours of operation will be from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, traffic control will remain in place 24/7. Detour is in place. Construction is expected to be completed spring of 2021. 

I-10, Mile Marker 44 to 55, between Deming and Lordsburg  

Mountain States Construction, Inc. (Contractor) has completed pavement preservation project on I-10 from milepost 44 to milepost 55 (Quincy).  Traffic can expect various daytime lane closures on the westbound lanes for finalization of the project. Contractor’s hours of operation will be from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Construction is expected to be completed fall of 2020. 

I-25, Business Loop, Socorro

Structures Inc., (Contractor) will be continuing with construction on the I-25 Business Loop in Socorro. The Socorro North exit 150 off ramp will be closed for bridge deck repairs. Please follow construction detour signage. Use caution as the contractor will be placing rip rap on slope shoulders, lane closure will be in place as needed on I-25. Contractor’s hours of operation will be from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday. 

I-10, Mile Marker 49, Deming Area

The New Mexico Department of Transportation has suspended work on I-10 Bridge Replacement Project due to increasing cases of COVID-19. This decision has been made to protect the health and safety of the construction team as well as the traveling public. All traffic barricades will remain in place for safety. Construction is scheduled to resume on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. 

US Roadways:

US 70, Mile Marker 154, Las Cruces

G. Sandoval Construction Inc., (Contractor) will be preforming road work in the area of Mesa Grande and Bataan Memorial West for median landscaping. Use caution in the area, reduce speed and follow construction signage. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Project is expected to be completed by November 27, 2020. 

US 180, Mile Marker 120 to 123, Santa Clara

James Hamilton Construction Company (Contractor) has begun the installation of the pedestrian trail which includes lighting, signage and crosswalk. US 180 will have a lane closures on the eastbound and westbound right driving lanes with a reduced speed to 35 mph; traffic control will be in place for the safety of our construction workers. Contractor hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. This project is estimated to be completed by winter 2020.

US 180, Mile Marker 115 to 120, Arenas Valley

Hasse Contracting Co., (Contractor) will have lane closures in effect on US 180 on both eastbound and westbound lanes for road repairs in Grant County. The speed limit will be reduced for the safety of the crew. Hours of operation will be from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Project is expected to be completed by early 2021. 

State Roadways:

NM 187 “El Camino Real”, Mile Marker 15.4 to 16.09, Arrey 

The New Mexico Department of Transportation has suspended work on NM 187 Bridge Replacement Project due to increasing cases of COVID-19. This decision has been made to protect the health and safety of the construction team as well as the traveling public. All traffic barricades will remain in place for safety. This project is on suspension until further notice.

Hatch Safety Improvement Project, NM 26 

Hasse Contacting Company, Inc. (Contractor) will continue roadway improvement project along NM 26 in Hatch. Road Improvements will begin with the replacement and upgrade of sidewalk, curb and gutter and ramps to include ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accommodations. Sidewalks will be detoured in areas for construction and the safety of the public. Contractor has also began paving along NM 26, watch for heavy equipment on roadway, reduce speeds, lane closures and flagging operations. Contractor hours will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm daily. 

Chip Seal Projects, Socorro Co:

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will be performing “Fog Sealing” with Brooming operations in Socorro Co. north of Socorro.  Speed limits will be reduced, no center stripe with loose gravel on roadway. Traffic will encounter lane drops with pilot car and flagging operations.    

Roadways affected will be: I-25 northbound from milepost 174.9 to 159, Socorro area

Continue to use caution as roadway is not striped.

Las Cruces Projects – City of Las Cruces:

Tashiro Drive

Tashiro Drive is scheduled to undergo utilities and roadway reconstruction by Morrow Enterprises, Inc., as part of the City of Las Cruces Tashiro Drive Widening Project. Work will begin Monday, October 26, 2020, and the closure is estimated to last approximately 5 months in duration.  Work will take place between 7 a.m. and as late as 6 p.m. During construction, access to Tashiro Drive from North Valley Drive will not be permitted, signage and detours will be present directing traffic around the closure by way of West Picacho Avenue. Access to the Field of Dreams Facility and Baseball Complex will be available through Tashiro Drive via North Motel Boulevard.

S. Telshor Avenue 

From Missouri Avenue to Fairway Drive will have a lane closure for the southbound driving right lane and shoulder as the contractor will remove and replace of sidewalk, curb and gutter and ramps to include ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accommodations. Access to businesses will always be maintained.  Sidewalks will be closed in areas for construction and for the safety of the public.

Van Patten Avenue

Van Patten Avenue from N. Reymond St. to N. Alameda Blvd. is scheduled to undergo roadway and utility improvements by DuCross Construction, LLC as part of the City of Las Cruces Van Patten Avenue Reconstruction Project. Work will begin Monday, November 2, 2020, and the closure is estimated to last approximately 4 months in duration. During construction, access to Van Patten Avenue will not be permitted to through traffic. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.  Sidewalks will be closed in areas for construction and for the safety of the public. Signage and detours will be present directing traffic around the work zone.
