Santa Fe, NM – On January 15, 2021 the Oil Conservation Commission (OCC) finished hearing testimony and public comments on the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department’s proposed rules on reducing natural gas waste. The Commission has instructed the appearing parties to submit additional relevant information by February 5, 2021.

The OCC will reconvene on February 11 to deliberate on the proposed rule changes and deliberation will continue until completed. During this time, the OCC Commissioners will review each party’s final proposals and determine, based on evidence presented during testimony, what changes should be made to the Division’s proposed rule, if any. The public will be able to watch the deliberations via WebEx. The login information can be found on the Outreach and Public Information tab on the Division’s website.

Following deliberations, if rule changes are approved, a final rule will be drafted that encompasses the changes approved by the Commissioners. The order finalizing the rule changes will be voted upon by the Commission at a separate meeting. The date of the final vote may be set during the deliberations meeting. All information relevant to scheduling will be posted on the Outreach and Public Information tab on the Division’s website, here.
