WASHINGTON — Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-N.M.) today announced five federal grants through the Indian Housing Block Grant Program totaling $8,364,497.
“The Indian Housing Block Grant Program provides critical resources that support affordable housing in Tribal communities,” said Herrell. “I’m excited to announce more than $8 million will be available to Pueblos and Tribes in the second congressional district this fiscal year.”
Grants were awarded to in the amount of:
- $1,026,562 to Acoma Pueblo
- $942,315 to Isleta Pueblo
- $1,510,121 to Laguna Pueblo
- $2,165,929 to Mescalero Apache Tribe
- $2,719,570 to Zuni Tribe
Under the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act of 1996, the Department of Housing and Urban Development provides these formula-based grants to Indian tribes and Alaska Native villages for the development and operation of low-income housing.
