Albuquerque, June 11—The Republican Party of New Mexico is calling on Gov. Lujan Grisham to take action to deal with the Southern border crisis and to listen to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey who have sent a joint letter to all governors requesting law enforcement support along the border.

Abbott and Ducey call the situation a disaster and an emergency and are asking other Chief Executives for their help. Here's their joint letter.

Gov. Lujan Grisham ought to know the crisis at the border better than anyone. Unfortunately, she is all too happy to ignore the catastrophe. The effects of guns, human trafficking and fentanyl flowing across the Southern border reaches far and wide.

Remember when Lujan Grisham said "'No one should get to do border security policy that doesn't live on the border." Well, now is her time to take action.

"This is an opportunity for our Governor to make a difference and show that border security is paramount to the safety and well-being of New Mexicans," said RPNM Chairman Steve Pearce. "Border security should be among her top priorities. She has done nothing to address this emergency, and the failure of the Biden Administration to do anything to end this ongoing crisis is appalling."

President Biden and Vice President Harris are failing to address the crisis they created at our border.

After nearly 80 days of leading the Administration's response to the border crisis, Harris has failed on every front. Harris has refused to even hold a news conference on the topic and still hasn't visited since she was put in charge.

Meanwhile, new data show the border crisis is worsening.

In May, 180,034 migrants were apprehended trying to cross the border – the highest one-month total in 21 years. This is over a 200% increase from the average May apprehensions during the Trump Administration. More than 14,100 unaccompanied children were apprehended.

Border apprehensions have increased every single month since Biden has been in office.

In Biden's first five months in office, more than 711,000 migrants have been caught attempting to illegally cross the border.
