Albuquerque, September 16—National Hispanic Heritage Month is underway, a time to recognize and honor the many contributions and achievements of Hispanic citizens here in New Mexico and around the nation. Hispanic heritage is truly American heritage as this population has made an indelible mark on our nation's history. This special time is a firm reminder of the powerful strength we draw as a state and a nation from our immigration roots.

Hispanic Americans offer a rich culture and proud traditions that help make a strong fabric of New Mexico and American life. RPNM welcomes, honors and appreciates the many gifts and vibrant contributions Hispanic citizens offer every day in our society.

The Republican Party has always been the home for freedom and opportunity, and we will continue to champion those values while fighting for school choice, entrepreneurship, religious freedom, and the removal of barriers that impede opportunities to realize the American Dream.

These are values that have deep roots among a growing number of Hispanic voters.

The Republican Party will continue to engage with Hispanic communities, invest in these important relationships, and welcome new members into our Party of opportunity.

The following is a statement on National Hispanic Heritage Month from Republican Party of New Mexico 1st Vice Chair Robert Aragon:

"Each September the nation celebrates Hispanic Heritage month. It is a time to reflect on the richness of our wonderful Hispanic culture, history, and the contributions made by so many of our Hispanic brethren. From captains of industry, innovators, political and religious leaders, and most importantly our families, Hispanics have strengthened the American experience. We have fought for our nation in combat, advocated for civil liberties and defended and rejoiced in the dignity of our traditions. I am hopeful that this Hispanic Heritage Month allows us not only an opportunity to acknowledge our wonderful culture but also that we come together with all our brothers and sisters under one God, one Nation and one Flag."

Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce also issued the following statement:

"For the next 30 days we pay special tribute to Hispanic citizens who have helped to enrich New Mexico communities in so many ways. They play a key role in building our economy, educating our children and governing our state, while enlightening all with their extraordinary culture and wonderful traditions. During this special time of recognition, we celebrate all the important contributions and proud accomplishments of Hispanic citizens."

The Republican Party of New Mexico (RPNM) advances the ideals of individual liberties for the advancement of its citizens and the greater prosperity of our communities throughout New Mexico. Led by an Executive Board and its Chairman, former NM Congressman Steve Pearce, RPNM serves all New Mexicans via its headquarters in Albuquerque and can be contacted at (505) 298-3662.
