DESCRIPTION: Join NMSU’s College Migrant Assistance Program to celebrate 20 years of service and the unveiling of the 14-foot “Mariposas Campesinas” art installation during a reception from 12–2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12 in the grassy area outside the CAMP offices at Milton Hall on campus. Local artist, former farmworker and NMSU CAMP student Jesus del Rio created the piece from 300 paper butterflies, each with a message of appreciation to local farmworkers written by students in the region as part of the J. Paul Taylor Symposium dedicated to “Justice for Farmworkers.” The event is also part of Hispanic Heritage Month and Oct 12 is Dia de la Raza.
